We never forget that ultimately a patient’s well being is what imaging is all about. Creating a positive experience for the patient is the best thing to do, and this is our focus.

Medical Imaging Associates, a three member radiology group, provides primary interpretations for many of our MRI facilities. All of our interpreting radiologists are board certified in diagnostic radiology and all Medical Imaging Associates physicians have performed additional fellowship training. Medical Imaging Associates consists of:

A native of India, Dr. Vidyadhar "Viju" Akkaraju, moved to the U.S.A. after graduating from medical school.  He did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia.  Fellowship in Neuroradiology followed at the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston.  Dr. Akkaraju has been a resident of Lafayette for the last 23 years.  He started his association with Acadiana Imaging two years ago.

Dr. Akkaraju is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology and also has a Certificate of added Qualification in Neuroradiology.  He is a Senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a member of Southeastern Neuroradiological Society.

Dr. Rodney Burns, originally from New Mexico, has lived in Louisiana since 1992.  He received his internship and diagnostic radiology training at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans.  Hew was a faculty member at L.S.U. New Orleans in the emergency radiology section prior to entering private practice.  He has practiced in Lafayette since 2000 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with certification in Diagnostic Radiology. 

 

 

Dr. Mark Stephan, a Lafayette native, is a graduate of USL and LSU Medical School at New Orleans.  He served his internship and Radiology Residency at The Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, and subsequently served as a Fellow in Interventional Radiology at The M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.  He has been engaged in the private practice of radiology in the Greater Lafayette area for the past 16 years.  Dr. Stephan is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and has been granted Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology, and is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology
